What happens when passion meets opportunity? For Edwin’Lee Lawrence, a student at Dr. Howard Fuller Collegiate Academy in Milwaukee, it means stepping one beat closer to his dreams. Audio Moguls Media—a cultural force amplifying Black voices in audio production and media—surprised Edwin’Lee with a Shure MV6 microphone, a game-changing tool for any budding music producer. The giveaway is part of their mission to invest in youth who are putting in the work, showing up, and creating with purpose.
Meet Edwin’Lee Lawrence: Milwaukee’s Future Hitmaker
At just 17 years old, Edwin’Lee is already putting in studio-level hours. A devoted student and regular at his school’s creative lab, he's been diving deep into FL Studio and honing his skills in vocal production through the Notes for Notes program.
“I got into the studio from a class mix-up on the first day of school,” Lawrence shared. “The next day, the studio teacher asked me if I wanted to take his class as an elective. I said yes, but I didn’t yet know what I was doing. The second semester came, and that’s when I started to work, fully see what I could do, and start taking it more seriously” (E. Lawrence, personal communication, August 20, 2025).
His first experience making beats unlocked something powerful.
“The first beat I ever made opened my eyes to beat-making, so I kept making more. The more I made, the better I got” (E. Lawrence, personal communication, August 20, 2025).
Why Music Matters
For Edwin’Lee, music is more than sound—it's self-expression and spiritual outlet.
“I love music so much because it feels rewarding knowing that I can make good, ‘rappable’, quality beats that I or others can get on and make songs with. I also love music because it can be used as an outlet for me or others” (E. Lawrence, personal communication, August 22, 2025).
He draws inspiration from artists like Juice WRLD, Lil Yachty, and Lil Tony:
“Juice’s music is inspirational and diverse. Yachty’s music is diverse as well. And I look up to Lil Tony because I follow God, and he gave his life to God. Listening to his testimony on podcasts inspires me a lot” (E. Lawrence, personal communication, August 22, 2025).
A School That Makes Space for Creators
Dr. Howard Fuller Collegiate has played a key role in Edwin’Lee’s development by simply making space for him to grow.
“To be honest, the best this school has supported me is by having a studio, having an after-school program, and by having the studio open all summer,” he said. (E. Lawrence, personal communication, August 22, 2025).
A Mic. A Moment. A Movement.
This moment is more than a giveaway—it's a snapshot of what culture + capital looks like in action. When Black-led platforms like Audio Moguls Media reinvest in the next generation, it sets off a ripple effect: inspiration, validation, and the tools to build legacy.
“We believe in sowing into young creators who are already doing the work,” said a representative from Audio Moguls Media. “Edwin’Lee has the vision. We just wanted to help amplify it” (Mwanje Thompson, Founder of Audio Moguls Media, personal communication, August 22, 2025).
